About Prestige
Prestige arrived at AMT Equestrian in Western Australia in 2021 and is developing into a magnificent stallion. His education has begun in-hand and will progress under saddle in late 2023 / 2024 under the close guidance of Manolo Mendez. Prestige is inscribed in the APSL (official Portuguese Lusitano Studbook), meaning he can be presented for APSL scoring and breeding approval once he is 4 years old and going under saddle. Prestige's first foal was born in November 2022. Prestige is available for breeding for the 2023 stud season to a small number of mares. Enquire below.

The Lusitano Horse
The Lusitano is an ancient, pure breed that originates in Portugal. It belongs to the Baroque horse breeds meaning the breed is based on what was desirable in the 16th and 17th centuries. Originally, Lusitanos were used by the Portugese aristocracy to ride into battle or in the bullfighting arena. The Lusitano is considered the "Sport Model" of the Iberian breeds. They have reached the top in many disciplines including Grand Prix Dressage and Showjumping, Working Equitation and in 4-In-Hand Driving they have been crowned World Champions.
Lusitanos are known for their agile, forward and smooth movement which makes them a very comfortable riding horse. Their flexible bodies are designed for collection, expression AND extension. The temperament of the Lusitano is both noble and generous. They possess an enthusiastic attitude towards work and a human-oriented disposition.

Your Questions Answered
APSL (Lusitano Studbook) Registration
Prestige is inscribed into the APSL (Lusitano Studbook) in Portugal. There is a very strict process for registering and approving Lusitano's for breeding by the APSL. Prestige will be presented for scoring at the next APSL visit to Australia (most likely in 2025). All (pure Lusitano) foals sired by Prestige will be able to be retrospectively inscribed in the APSL once Prestige is approved (provided they are out of a registered and approved mare). Prestige's Semen Availability
Prestige's semen is available fresh and chilled Australia wide. Frozen semen will be available in late 2023. There is NO live cover available to Prestige. For more information and a copy of Prestige's semen contract please complete the enquiry form below.
Can I bring my mare to the Stud?
No. Prestige is not available for live cover. Your mare will need to be prepared for artificial insemination by your veterinarian. If you are in WA, you may choose to have your mare prepped and bred by the same vet clinic where Prestige will be collected (contact us for details). This would save you transport costs of the semen.
Stud Fee and Breeding Terms
Prestige's introductory stud fee for his first season is $1500 plus GST. In addition there is a $350 collection fee and if required, a transport fee for the semen. Semen is supplied for a single cycle insemination. That means, semen is supplied once per stud fee. (At our discretion we will supply additional doses, feel free to discuss this with us). We strongly recommend that you have your mare examined and swabbed to ensure she is fit for breeding and has the highest possible chance to conceive.
